- Casting Call: Hello, I am producing educational videos for the OCSD and I require your help. We need to contact deaf (or hearing) parents with deaf children from the ages of 6 months to 4 years. We need them for videotaping sessions in which ASL counselors will lead them through exercises in ASL (ASL poetry, rhythm, games, etc.). The videotaping will happen in or near Toronto, one day in a large, open play area. A professional crew will be doing the taping. More information is on the temporary web site addressed below. Could you ‘broadcast this to your membership? Or even put a small announcement on your web site with a link to the address below? Your help will be much appreciated.

- Special Announcement: Andrew P.J. Byrne has been accepted to enter the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme in the Graduate Programme in Education: Language, Culture, and Teaching at York University in Toronto, Ontario. He will begin his doctoral work in the fall of 2003.

This is in response to the many e-mails and TTY calls we have received asking if Mayfest will continue because of the SARS in Toronto. Yes, the Mayfest & Deaffest will continue.
Please read release below by the Ontario government
The Ontario Government states that Ontario continues to be a safe travel destination. There have been cases of SARS and the Ontario government is taking steps to ensure steps are taken to ensure public health. The risk to travelers of contracting this illness is minimal. Up to date information on Ontario SARS is available from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long – Term Care.
